NOMINATE THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS! Four Star Leadership with General Tommy Franks is accepting applications and nominations for its FREE world-class summer leadership program to be held July 8-13! Do you know a star student with strong leadership ability? Four Star Leadership can maximize their potential. Students will be housed on the Oklahoma Christian university Campus in Oklahoma City and travel on various excursions where they will meet and engage with national and international leaders including politicians, dignitaries and sports stars. In addition, students will be confronted with practical leadership and ethical scenarios and then challenged to address them individually in a persuasive speech and writing competition as well as collaboratively in an Ethics Bowl tournament.
Attendees will have a chance to earn more than $30,000 in scholarships as well as gain internships and receive letters of recommendation. Applications and nominations for Four Star Leadership 2017 are being accepted now through May 8. Cadets from all thirteen units from our SDUSD Joint Brigade attended the annual Cadet Ball on March 17th. Over a thousand cadets and guests were able to enjoy everything from the full three-course meal to the dance. The winners of the Royal Court were presented as they walked among the Arch of Swords executed by the Honor Guard. The event also recognized the thirteen school's successes and achievements, avowed by this year's guest speaker. We would like to thank everyone who made the event possible, from the Brigade staff to the cadets. We hope that everybody had an amazing time and hope to see everyone again next year!
- c/2LT Sunga This past Wednesday, March 14th, Kearny High honored the victims of Parkland School tragedy through a silent walkout and many information workshops that focus on gun control, school safety, and more. Through these workshops, students were able to learn about the importance of gun control and voting. They were also able to respond to the victims of the Parkland shooting and companies by sending letters about the ban of assault rifles. Students also had the chance to ask questions about school safety to Ms. Diaz and campus security. We hope that this convention and by standing together, that we recognize the victims of the Parkland school shooting and make change within our community, city, and country in order to safely live in peace.
Kearny AJROTC pays their respects to cadets Peter Wang, Alaina Perry, and Martin Duque, who will be honored with the JROTC Medal of Heroism. On March 2nd, we went to Cubberley Elementary to teach them the importance of CPR and how to perform it. The kids, who were super excited, had tons of fun learning about CPR with its steps and processes. We hope to teach more people about CPR and how it could lead to saving lives!
