Applications to attend the SDUSD Summer Camp JCLC are being accepted are due NLT April 14th, 2016 during your class period. We are authorized to take 23 cadets at this time however we may have more opportunities if cadets from other schools do not attend. We will create an Order of Merit list based on the applications received.

If you are wishing to run for Royal Court at Cadet Ball this year, we would like to receive all essays by Tuesday, March 1, no later than 4:30 PM. They will still be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, and all the formatting and rules from the previous post still apply.
Hello everyone!! As you may know, Cadet Ball is coming up this March! Make sure to purchase your cadet ball ticket.
Each unit (school) has their own Royal Court that consists of a Queen, First Attendant, and Second Attendant, along with their escorts. This year, selection of the Royal Court will be based upon LET level, grades, and entry essay:
It must be formatted as the following:
1. The Cadet Ball will be held at the Town and Country Resort Hotel, Saturday, 18 March 2017, 1800 until 2330. The Town and Country Resort Hotel is located in Mission Valley at the Hotel Circle exit. The cost is $55 per person. This price includes a formal dinner and dancing. Over 1,200 cadets will attend from SDUSD!
2. To purchase a ticket, go to the financial office and state you are buying a ticket(s) for the cadet ball. Cadets may only purchase one or two tickets (for themselves and one guest). Give your receipt to COL Swann for addition to the roster and to receive your permission slip. Tickets are on sale now until February 28, 2017. Only 80 tickets are available for Kearny High School. After February 28th if we have sold all of our tickets, others may be available from other schools.
DO NOT WAIT - THEY SELL FAST! Purchase your tickets BEFORE February 28th!3. Only San Diego City School Cadets and their guests are authorized to attend the Ball. Any Cadet arriving without previously purchasing a ticket (receipt from financial office) will not be admitted. Only authorized Cadets and guests, in the proper uniform/attire, will be allowed to attend the Ball. This is a formal occasion. Strict adherence to the following dress code is required for admittance. Purchase of a ticket does not authorize entry unless you and your guest are properly dressed.
a. Male Cadets must wear the Service Dress Uniform, with black bow tie. Remember to wear your name tag, JROTC rank and ribbons with this uniform. HEAD GEAR (COVERS) is not required and should not be brought to the Ball. THIS IS NOT A CLUB! INAPPROPRIATE DRESS=NO ENTRANCE. Also recommend that cadets do NOT wear any medals. They tend to come off during dancing!
b. Female Cadets are authorized to wear formal attire, BUT be sure that the outfit is neither too revealing nor provocative. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE RULES AND YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE DANCE.
c. Male guests must wear formal/semi-formal attire. NO MALE GUESTS WILL BE ADMITTED WHO IS NOT PROPERLY DRESSED. Attire also includes dress shoes-sneakers are NOT allowed. Although a bow tie is not required with the suit, a tie is mandatory. NO TIE, NO JACKET, NO ADMISSION. Formal wear is a tuxedo and semi-formal is a suit (matching coat and slacks). Jackets, sweaters, windbreakers, leather, etc., are not formal attire. CASUAL WEAR=NO ENTRANCE. COATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES DURING THE BALL.
d. Minimum 2.0 GPA (including the Citizenship Grade) is required to attend.
4. The Cadet Ball is a school sponsored function and the following rules are mandatory.
a. Entrance to the Ball area will begin at 1730, so plan to arrive and be seated for dinner by 1800. DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 1730!
b. The front entrance will be closed at 2000 to from the Royal Court. Colors will be posted at 1900. No one will be admitted while the Colors or Court are being presented.
c. Cadets will leave the immediate Ball area to have pictures taken in the foyer. For re-admittance, they must show the “black light” hand stamp. No one will be re-admitted without this stamp.
d. Smoking or drinking intoxicating beverages are not permitted. The purchasing of Hotel rooms for an “after party” is not permitted.
e. Dancing begins at approximately 2045. Dancing will be appropriate for a military formal ball. SUGGESTIVE OR INAPPROPRIATE DANCING (Freaking) WILL BE CAUSE TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE THE BALL.
f. You are responsible for the actions of your guest. If you or your guest do not follow the standards of Cadet policies, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
g. ONCE YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING, YOU MAY NOT RETURN.
5. The ball ends at 2330. Therefore you must make arrangements to leave the area at that time.
Cadets, we should be receiving the trousers for our uniforms next Monday or Tuesday. So we will have classroom on Tuesday the 17th and Uniform Wear and Inspection on Thursday the 19th! We will resume our normal schedule when we come back from Thanksgiving Break.
Do to not yet receiving funds from the federal budget, we have not been able to have alterations done to your uniforms in order for you to wear them. Until funds come in, you can still receive your 53 points for uniform day. We have given each of you 53 points for Tuesday, October 6. Ensure you study the In-Ranks Inspection Questions as we will begin asking them next Tuesday during formation for points. You will also be performing drill on Tuesdays. Failure to participate or disruptive behavior will result in lost points. Ask any of the Army Instructors if you need additional information.
The district office has had to cancel Cadet Picnic in October. They are working on a new date and location and we will let you know!
What you need to know about Cadet Picnic
Cadets will be provided with only the Kearny JROTC t-shirt prior to the event, and must have their own black shorts upon arrival at Kearny. Students will be taken to and from this event, and will be under adult supervision throughout the entire time.
Hey cadets! There’s a rumor going around that our first JROTC fundraiser is coming up next week? Well, yes, it's true!! On Friday the 25th, you will all get to watch the S5s’ attempts to stay on their feet while they try to take pictures of you guys!!! (we're so excited. very much excited.) For just $10, you can come skate with us at the San Diego Ice Arena from 7:30-10:00pm! Bring your friends, family, and anyone you want to really! This event is a great opportunity to bond with your fellow cadets!
Hello, current and incoming Kearny cadets! The long awaited Cadet Picnic quickly approaches! This is an event where 100 of our cadets are given the chance to participate in games, sports, and of course… a dance off against the other 13 battalions in our brigade, and this year is our time to shine!
Everyone is welcome to the training for these events, that will begin Monday during your PT days and after school. We aren’t asking you guys to be professionals here, though it’s totally rad if you are, we are just asking that you guys just try!
What did you say? Oh, you’re not into that whole exercise thing? No need to worry! This event is open to all cadets regardless of whether or not you’ll be competing. Komets, this is your chance to support your school and more importantly, show your spirit! More information will be coming out on this event in the near future; I can’t wait to see you all there!
