On Saturday, April 7th, our very own Raiders team competed in Cadet Challenge, a SDUSD Joint Brigade competition which took place at Hoover High School. The Raiders team went against athletic teams from twelve other units in our school district. Our competing cadets participated in these categories: push-ups, sit-ups, basketball toss and relay race. Despite the competitiveness of each cadet, it was a very social and spirited atmosphere. Thank you so much to those who competed!
Cadets from all thirteen units from our SDUSD Joint Brigade attended the annual Cadet Ball on March 17th. Over a thousand cadets and guests were able to enjoy everything from the full three-course meal to the dance. The winners of the Royal Court were presented as they walked among the Arch of Swords executed by the Honor Guard. The event also recognized the thirteen school's successes and achievements, avowed by this year's guest speaker. We would like to thank everyone who made the event possible, from the Brigade staff to the cadets. We hope that everybody had an amazing time and hope to see everyone again next year!

On Saturday, January 24th, we hosted our End of the Semester Banquet where we reflected back on what we did within our program this past semester. On top of reflecting back, we were able to bond and look forward to our next semester as we all dined on pizza. We thank everyone who came to the banquet, and we hope to see both new and familiar faces this upcoming semester. Congratulations to all of our graduating cadets and we wish them the best of luck for their future ventures! We would also like to applaud the Bravo Company for winning the Best Company Award through their immense efforts and dedication.

On Saturday, January 20th, we participated in the annual Best Drilled Platoon and Best Drilled Squad Regulation Competition, hosted at James Madison High School. This event allows cadets to represent our Battalion by exhibiting and showcasing our skills through armed drill. Despite the busy semester, our cadets practiced hard and performed their best in giving a brilliant performance. Thank you to those cadets who competed in this event as well as any others who came to support the team!
We can't wait to see you come to our ice skating fundraiser. It will be held at the San Diego Ice Arena from 8 to 10 PM. Tickets will be on sale for $15 and sold by our battalion staff and company XOs. There will be food and drinks so make sure to invite everyone you know!
*Please note that Kearny AJROTC will not be providing transportation.*
Our annual Joint Brigade Best Drilled Individual (BDI) and Best Drilled Color Guard (BDCG) Regulation Drill competition took place on December 9th at Serra High School. The competition shapes cadets into performing sharp, swift drill movements with the rifle or flag. Each of the thirteen Battalions sent one cadet from each of the four LET levels to compete for the BDI competition and a LET 1 Color Guard and Varsity Color Guard team for the BDCG competition to represent their school. Many cadets who were not competing and parents of the participating cadets also came to show their support and spirit. Our participating cadets put in a lot of practice and work to give the judges a good impression with their performances. Thank you to all of those who competed and came out to support, and let us continue to work hard and preform even better next year!
This year's annual Joint Brigade Cadet Picnic took place on September 23rd. Hundreds of cadets from thirteen different battalions, including Kearny, came to represent themselves and compete in many games and preform in the talent show. Cadets were also able to go around and socialize with those from other battalions, catching up with old friends as well as hopefully, making plenty of new ones. We are so glad to have seen so much participation and spirit from everyone!

Many of our cadets, along with those from other schools within our brigade, participated in the annual JCLC (Junior Cadet Leadership Camp) this summer. JCLC is a summer camp experience focused on helping cadets to improve their leadership, team building, and adventure training skills. Some of the activities at the camp included fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and archery, along with many others. We hope that everyone was able to learn and grow as well as have fun during their time there.
