2018 JROTC National Essay

The annual JROTC National Essay Contest is mandatory for all LET 2's, LET 3's, and LET 4's. The essays are due and must be turned in as a hardcopy by January 12th. The top essay of our Battalion will be sent to the 8th BDE to be further analyzed. The cadets whose essays are selected as one of the top three nationally by the JROTC Directorate will earn an a free round-trip to JLAB 2018 in Washington DC from June 22nd to the 26th. We encourage all of our cadets to participate!
This year's essay theme is Emotional Intelligence. Cadets' essays should discuss the following topics:

1. What is emotional intelligence?
2. Identify one of your emotional skills and explain what it means.
3. Explain how an awareness of your emotional skills makes you a better citizen.

Emotional Intelligence

The essay must be:

• Length: Two to three pages (not including the cover page)
• Font style: Times New Roman
• Font size: 12
• Spacing: Double
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides

Cover page should identify Cadet's:

• First and last name
• Home address (street, city, state, and zip code)
• LET number
• High school name
• High school address (street, city, state, and zip code)
• SAI or AI name, phone number, and email address
