​Welcome cadets to the 2017-2018 school year's Kearny AJROTC! We are glad to have you all and are excited for all of the events and opportunities our program has to offer this year. Please click on the button labelled with your LET level below to enroll into Canvas.

This is the Battalion Commander, c/LTC Krista Peterson, and her vision and goals for the Komet Battalion this year.

The annual essay contest is a mandatory event for all LET 2's, LET 3's and LET 4's. The essays are due and must be turned in as a hardcopy by January 11, 2019. The best essays made by our cadets will be further analyzed. This year, portions of the contest will be incorporated into the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) 2019. A JROTC Directorate will select the top three essays as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place national winners. The winners will win an all-expense paid round-trip to JLAB 2019 at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C on June 21st to 25th 2019.

All qualified cadets are highly encouraged to participate in this contest. 

This year's essay theme is: "This I Know" Duty, Honor, Country.

The length of the essays will be 2-3 pages, excluding cover page. Pages within the essay, including cover page, must adhere to the following:

Layout:

• Font Type: Times New Roman
• Font size: 12
• Spacing: Double
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides

The cover page should identify the cadets:

• First and last name
• Home address (street, city, state, and zip code)
• LET number
• High school name
• High school address (street, city, state, and zip code)
• SAI or AI name, phone number, and email address

Essays will be scored using the attached rubric.
